Why we ride
Team Left Hand Brewing is dedicated to fighting Multiple Sclerosis. Bike MS is a 2 day inspirational ride covering 150 miles through rolling hills and captivating scenery. The sense of accomplishment that you’ll feel as you cross the finish line can only be matched by the difference you’ll be making in the lives of people affected by MS.
Last year we raised over $115,000, a number we hope to crush in 2012.
About Multiple Sclerosis
Multiple sclerosis interrupts the flow of information between the brain and the body and stops people from moving. Imagine a time when you’ve exerted your body to exhaustion – maybe your legs felt like they couldn’t support your weight, your arms ached from the inside out and cooking dinner seemed like a tremendous task, or maybe you were too exhausted to shovel your driveway. You were fortunate to have the opportunity to decide to exert yourself – for individuals living with MS, without exertion, these feelings can be their everyday reality. With the help of people like you, the National MS Society addresses the challenges of each person whose life is affected by MS and helps them stay connected to the great big moving world.

What team members are saying
“Team Left Hand has a great reputation as a team that cares about its riders, providing assistance before and during the MS 150. They certainly lived up to their rep this year, my first with the team. I look forward to riding with them again! Best party tent!!!”
- Michael Hoffman
“As a person with MS riding with Team Left Hand was an experience I will never forget. The team was so supportive and helpful throughout the entire ride. I still wear my team jersey out on weekend rides and always get high fives, waves and cheers. The team has such a great reputation in the cycling community and I look forward to many more years of riding with them.”
- Joey Shimp
“This was my first year riding with the team and it was great! I was looking for a local team which was committed to raising money for MS. Left Hand Brewing, its employees, and the team leaders are committed and put a lot of effort into making the ride a success. I will definitely be coming back!”
- Dave Ballowe
“Being part of Team Left Hand was a huge amount of fun. Through it all, though, they never lost sight of the fact that we were there to do a job, raise some money, and help put an end to MS. A tremendously inspirational team to be a part of.”
-Craig Abramson
“Team Left Hand is one of the most recognized teams on the MS ride. The brewery is already a local favorite so a lot of the non-team riders come talk to us or joke with us about having a beer. The jerseys are always a hit and extremely noticeable on the course. Being on the team and riding Bike MS is one of the highlights of the year – every year!”
- Steve Hartsock
“I’m a 20 year Bike MS participant and I’ve been on a team for 11 of those years. The Team Left Hand experience was far and away the best! GREAT team spirit and really cool people! Chris is a truly committed team captain and as shown by our fundraising results – we all want to find a cure for MS!”
- Rick Zwetsch
“Riding on Team Left Hand is the most amazing and fun experience I have had while riding charity rides in Colorado. It is really a well-integrated team….you ride with your friends…..and you benefit your community at the same time. I would be proud to see my employer be a (co)-sponsor for this Team.”
- Frank Olsen
“Bike MS is a crucial event in raising awareness and funds to help find a cure for Multiple Sclerosis; a cause dear to my family. After riding alone my first year, I wanted to join a team to make riding 150-miles more fun! Now, I’ve ridden on Team Left Hand Brewing 3 years and I can’t wait until the 2012 event! Team LHB does incredible work in so many ways, including searching out and working with sponsors, inspiring spirit and camaraderie within the team of riders, and supporting fundraising clinics and events. New to Colorado, it’s been great to make friends on the LHB team, and the 150-mile saddle time is more enjoyable too!”
- Karen Whittier
“Riding with Left Hand last year was amazing. I was supported from start to finish including training rides, advice and who wouldn’t want to wear that jersey? It feels good to represent an awesome organization like Bike MS with the backing of a company that is so organized and dedicated to the community the way Left Hand is. I can’t wait to ride next year!”
- Ashley Barey

More About Ales 4 FemAles…
We bet you didn’t know that women now account for over 50% of the current population? Yep that’s right- 50.9% to be exact. Yet for some reason women don’t account for 50% of the beer being consumed in the U.S. Well, the crew over at the Left Hand Brewing Company is determined to change that.
Left Hand Brewing has started Ales4FemAles – a women-only “club” – designed to reach out to women to educate them all that craft beer has to offer. “We know from speaking to women in our tasting room to festivals to beer dinners, that a lot of women’s perception of beer is that yellow fizzy stuff,” says Cinzia Wallace, who, along with Sue Smith-Troy, came up with the idea in January 2008. “Craft beer is so much more than that,” says Wallace, “and we want to help our fellow women better understand the beauty of good beer.”
Due to immense popularity, we started hosting two meetings a month (covering the same topic) so that more women can attend. The meetings are usually the 2nd & 4th Monday of each month from 6:30 to 8:00pm in the Tasting Room (unless otherwise posted). A variety of events are planned for each club meeting, ranging from understanding the basics of beer styles to the fun associated with beer and food pairings. “Women approach drinking differently than men and have different palates,” says Smith-Troy. “Many women may share a beer with their boyfriend or spouse but are unsure about going into a bar and ordering a craft beer by themselves. Our goal is to reach out to women, educate them about ales & lagers, and show them that craft beer is a wonderful beverage with a wider range than wine.”
Cinzia Wallace has been in the craft beer industry for 15 years, is incredibly beer knowledgeable and loves to share her enthusiasm for beer with other women. Sue Smith-Troy has been home brewing beer for 12 years, is beer passionate, and along with Cinzia, successfully educates and philosophizes with customers about good craft beer on a daily basis in the Left Hand Tasting Room.

Primal Wear
Our company was founded by avid cyclists with a desire for high quality cycling apparel that broke the mold. Since 1992, Primal Wear has been dedicated to providing cyclists with highly technical clothing that looks great and performs perfectly. At our heart, we are cyclists, business people and artists who have found a way to combine our talents to produce some of the most recognizable jerseys in the world. Our original designs set riders apart from the crowd – rather it is by bringing your favorite beers and rock groups to life or showing your pride with our military jerseys.
Since our inception the company has been growing steadily and we now sell hundreds of thousands of apparel items around the world every year. Despite our growth, we strive to maintain the grassroots culture that fosters innovation and creativity and allows us to keep in touch with the soul of the sport we are dedicated to. Primal Wear is not now, nor ever will be, a corporation run by a board whose major concern is peddling rather than pedaling. This is a company of die hard cyclists committed to improving the sport.
In fact, lunch time at our Global Headquarters in Denver, Colorado is easy to spot, even from a distance. It’s when everyone files through the front door, already on their bikes, ready for the daily afternoon ride.
It’s a Primal thing.

Just like you, we’re passionate about all kinds of things and have a wide variety of interests. Too much of any one activity leaves us missing out on another, always wondering if the other was better. A healthy dose of all things in a balanced way keeps our right brain feeling good and the left brain knowing it’s all good. We sum it all up in one word: balance. It’s just what we do.
We love to get involved, but we just simply can’t do it all. Our favorite sponsorships are the ones where we can be present, talking about our beer and aligning our core values with the organizations that we partner with. Please don’t take it personally when we have to gracefully decline. Check out our guidelines below:
- Any and all sponsorship requests which are less than one month out will be automatically declined. We appreciate as much time as possible, especially if it’s not local.
- Non-Colorado – because every state has their own laws, and distribution issues – our primary focus is in CO, but we’re open to hearing events from around the country.
- We do not give financial donations.
- We do not do any equipment rentals.
We do not sponsor:
- Team Sports/Athletes
- Schools Auctions or Functions (c’mon people, we sell beer!)
- Political Organizations (we don’t want to choose sides)
- Religious Organizations (again, we don’t want to choose sides)
- Motorsports
Sponsorship Request Form
Left Hand receives thousands of sponsorship and donation requests each year. Once we have received your email request, we will contact you ONLY if we are able to sponsor your event or partner with your organization. NO PHONE CALLS, PLEASE.
You Can’t Take Away The Land
(A song for Gold Hill and victims of The Four Mile Canyon Fire)
Written by James Moors and Kort McCumber
On Labor Day, September 6th, 2010, the Four Mile Canyon Fire started in the Rocky Mountain Foothills, in Emerson Gulch, a few miles west of Boulder, CO. The high winds, tinder dry forest and rugged terrain made it very difficult for the firefighters to combat the flames. Professional and Volunteer Firemen from all over the State and the Country were called in to help fight what would become the worst wildfire in Colorado history. Over 6,000 acres burned, 169 homes destroyed, and thousands of people and animals were displaced. This song was inspired by our friends, neighbors and firemen who helped save the historical mountain town of Gold Hill, just miles from where the fire broke out. Established in 1859 as one of Colorado’s first gold mining camps, Gold Hill became the main hub for fire operations during the mandatory ten-day evacuation. Due to the professional leadership of the departments involved, no human lives were lost.
A portion of the proceeds from the purchase of this song will be donated to Gold Hill and The Four Mile Canyon Fire relief efforts. Please go to www.moorsandmccumber.com to listen to a preview and to purchase the song. Thank you for your support!
